The Memorial Centre in Pazin hosts the exclusive exhibition of photographs by Igor Karasi titled „Croatia from the air“. The exhibition is organized for humanitarian reasons – all earnings will be forwarded to the Fund for the Children’s Intensive Care Department at the Kantrida Hospital in Rijeka.

Science Fiction Kongress Istrakon

Pazin, located in the heart of Istria, held its first science fiction congress in 2000. It soon grew into a real festival of borderline sciences, SF literature and films, accompanied by a rich program of lectures, computer workshops, card playing tournaments, creative writing workshops, sports competitions, fashion shows and theme parties.

Pazin, im Herzen von Istrien gelegen, wurde im Jahre 2000 zum ersten Mal Treffpunkt eines Science Fiction Kongresses. Dieser wurde schnell ein Festival für paranormale Wissenschaften, SF Literatur und Filme, Vorlesungen, Computer Workshops, Kreatives Schreiben, Sportveranstaltungen, Fashion Shows und Parties.

Fažana's fishing academy ‘Pilchard’ gives everyone a chance to try your hand at the old skill of preparing salted sardines, stand by the competitors who in marked tin containers arrange salted pilchard... after three months the tin containers will be opened and the best salted pilchard will be announced. A special occasion for tasting and a chance to talk about the choice of perfect wine for such festive occasions… In any case, the fish must be salted properly! And to know that, a school is needed.

Fažana's Fischakademie "Pilchard" gibt jedem eine Chance das Sardelleneinlegen zu versuchen bzw zu beobachten. Dabei legen die Teilnehmer Sardellen in markierten Behältern ein. Nach 3 Monaten werden dann die Gewinner bekannt gegeben. Dies ist eine rare Gelegenheit Experten über die Schultern zu schauen, Sardellen zu probieren und etwas über den passenden Wein zu erfahren. Auf jeden Fall muß der Fisch richtig in Salz eingelegt werden - und dafür sollte man diese Schule besuchen...

Feier der Stadt Pazin

In honor of the first mentioning of the name of the town in a document issued by the king Oton in the year 983, the city of Pazin every year celebrates its day at the beginning of June. Apart from the solemn session of the city council it is also an opportunity for the city associations to present their activity by means of expositions, concerts, demonstrative practicing and sports competitions.

Zu Ehren der ersten Erwähnung des Städtenamens in einem Dokument von König Oton im Jahre 983 feiert sich die Stadt Pazin jedes Jahr Anfang Juni. Neben einer besonderen Sitzung des Stadtrats ist dies auch ein Anlass dass verschiedene Vereinigungen der Stadt sich durch Ausstellungen, Konzerte, Schaudarstellungen und Sportveranstaltungen vorstellen.

The people of Pula are rightfully proud of their glorious Roman history. Magnificent edifices preserved from ancient times amaze guests from all over the world. However, it is especially interesting to visit Pula at times when images from ancient history walk the streets right in front of our eyes. For a few days the streets of Pula are turned into a stage of a picturesque Roman theater - the center of ancient tragedies and comedies. The Arena remembers its days of glory when gladiators fought within its stone walls. Beautiful women wearing dresses and hairstyles of those ancient times, historical spectacles of sound and light leave us breathless at almost every corner, while Roman feasts and the indigenous Istrian mouth-watering specialties refresh our palate.

Die Einwohner Pulas sind zu Recht stolz auf Ihre ruhmreiche Römische Vergangenheit. Prächtig erhaltene Gebäude der Antike  überraschen Gäste aus der ganzen Welt. Allerdings ist es besonders interessant, Pula zu besuchen, wenn Bilder aus der Geschichte direkt vor unseren Augen lebhaft werden. Im Juni werden für ein paar Tage die Straßen von Pula in eine Phase eines malerischen römischen Theater verwandelt - das Zentrum der antiken Tragödien und Komödien. Die Arena erinnert sich der Tage als Gladiatoren in ihren Mauern kämpften. Schöne Frauen tragen Kleider und Frisuren von jener Zeit, historische Impressionen aus Klang und Licht üraschen uns an fast jeder Ecke, während römische und einheimische istrische Spezialitäten auf Ihre Gaumen warten.

Der Ort Pariži nahe Pazin widmet den Juli dem Lavendel, Istrien's berühmter Heilpflanze, der "Königin" der ätherischen Öle. Wie war die Istrische Gastronomie und regionale Küche während der sogenannten La Belle Epoque zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts? Fester Bestandteil dessen war die sogenannte Maneštra (dicke Gemüsesuppe). Dieses Festival ehrt dieses traditionelle Gericht. Zudem werden Fuži Pasta, Gnocchi und Lasagne sowie andere Gerichte von Chefs aus Fažana angeboten.

Ancient Romans, known for their hedonism, were well aware of the beauty of this area, so that as many as seven patrician families decided to build their magnificent villae rusticae here. At this festival there are creative workshops where you can learn about the ancient skills of making mosaics and amphorae, and fashion show of Roman jewellery, you can also witness real Roman Bacchanalia with a rich offer of dishes prepared according to ancient recipes that are just as attractive today as they were in Roman times!

Together with the waterfront, all streets and illuminated fishing boats are all linked in a special way by candles, lights and stars. Music accompanies this festival of light, in this case street musicians, soloists and small music groups. In such an atmosphere Fažana truly resembles the blue and silver luminous nuances of its symbol, the swift pilchard.

Zusammen mit dem Kai sind beleuchtete Fischerboote und die Strassen durch Kerzen, Lichter und Sterne miteinander verbunden. Hinzu kommt Musik von Strassenmusikanten, Soloisten und kleinen Gruppen. In dieser Atmosphäre zeigt sich Fažana im schillernden Licht seines Symbols, der schillernden Sardine.

The ATP Studena Croatia Open is more than just an outstanding ATP World Tour tennis tournament. The event has helped to establish Umag as a symbol of high-quality Croatian tourism. Former Roland Garros champion Carlos Moya has been an outstanding ambassador for the city and the tournament, winning four titles, including three straight between 2001-03.

Das ATP Studena Croatia Open ist mehr als ein weiteres besonderes ATP World Tour Tennis-Turnier. Diese Veranstaltung hat Umag dabei geholfen ein Symbol für hochwertigen Tourismus in Kroatien zu werden. Der vormalige Roland Garros Champion Carlos Moya ist ein hervorragender Botschafter der Stadt und des Turniers das er selber 4 mal gewonnen hat, 3mal hintereinander von 2001-2003.

One of the Istrian events with the longest tradition is the Labinske konti, a festival of traditional Istrian folk music and dances of the area around Labin known as Labinština – a real treat for all folklore lovers. On the last Saturday in July in Dubrova near Labin folk singers, dancers in folk costumes, entertainers and players on typical local instruments: meh, sopele, dvojnice and other instruments bear witness to the preservation of traditional folklore of this area.

Das Labinske Konti ist eine Veranstaltung in Istrien mit der längsten Tradition. Ein Festival traditioneller Istrischer Volksmusik und Tänzen der Gegend um Labin, Labinština genannt. Besonders von Liebhabern der Folklore geschätzt. Am letzten Samstag im Juli treffen sich im Dubrava bei Labin Volksmusikanten, Tänzer in Flklore-Kostümen, Entertainer und Musiker mit traditionellen Instrumenten: Meh, Sopele, Dvojnice und andere traditionelle Folklore-Instrumente dieser Gegend.

Picture the town bell-tower vanishing before your eyes, and its place being taken by the star speckled sky. For that is what the bell-tower of Novigrad is going to look like when, using projectors, they immerse it into the infinity of a starry sky. This takes place to celebebrate Lunas,  the ancient Celtic name for the first day of summer which the Celtic culture celebrated on 1st of August. In one of the Novigrad parks dimmed lights will celebrate August 1st, just the way the ancient Celts did. All those enjoying the things romantic and mystic should not miss this event.

Stellen Sie sich vor dass der Glockenturm der Stadt vor Ihren Augen verschwindet und durch den Sternenhimmel ersetzt wird. Dies geschieht zur Feier von Lunas mithilfe von Projektoren die statt des Glockenturms von Novigrad Sterne erscheinen lassen. Lunas ist der keltische Name für den ersten Sommertag, den die Kelten am 1. August feierten. In einem Park wird der 1. August so gefeiert wie bei den Kelten. Eine veranstaltung für alle die das Romantische und Mystische mögen!

Symposium Mediterraner Bildhauer

Nature park and excursion site Dubrova at the entrance to the town Labin is well known for its international sculptors' symposium, which year after year enriches the existing impressive collection of Istrian stone sculptures. Until today nearly a hundred symposium participants have sculptured stone in this nature park; famous sculptors from all over the world who during the summer months work in Dubrova as guest artists leaving behind tangible results of their creative ideas.

Der Naturpark und Ausflugsort Dubrova am Ortseingang von Labin ist berühmt für das internationale Symposium von Bildhauern, das alljährlich die eindrucksvolle Sammlung Istrischer Steinskulpturen bereichert. Bis heute haben fast 100 Teilnehmer des Symposiums in diesem Naturpark Skulpturen erschaffen, unter ihnen viele weltweit berühmte Bildhauer die während der Sommermonate in Dubrova als Gastkünstler arbeiten und dem Ort ihre kreativen Werke hinterlassen.

The sea is the school of life. Storms and tempests, open seas and sheltered coves... are all reflected in the faces of fishermen, while their hands weave nets out of old and new knowledge. At this fisherman's festival these men of the sea present their traditional skills in various ways. Fishermen display different examples of marine life and needed equipment. They explain to visitors how to catch certain fish, how fishing equipment is handled and used. On August 12th trails of numerous comets streak across the sky. As this day is also the feast of St. Lawrence, this celestial phenomenon became known among the people as the tears of St. Lawrence. And to make the enjoyment of the sky criss-crossed with falling stars still more special, the public lighting on the Rovinj water front is turned off so as to allow the stars to shine still brighter. The catering establishments also turn off their lights, making the atmosphere of their premises romantic, one that imbues one’s soul and relaxes just about everyone.

Am 12. August hinterlassen zahlreiche Kometen ihre Spuren am Nachthimmel. Da dieser Tag auch der Tag des Heiligen Laurus ist, wird das Himmelsphänomen als "die Tränen des Heiligen Laurus" genannt. Um dieses Naturschauspiel noch einzigartiger zu machen werden die Lichter in Rovinj entlang dem Meeres ausgeschaltet. Die Restaurants verfahren genauso wodurch die Atmosphäre in ihnen besonders romantisch wird, die Seele beruhigt und den Abend unvergesslich erscheinen lässt.

A giant omelette made of 2010 eggs and truffles in an enormous, 2.5 meters wide pan, is the main event of the first day of Buzet traditional festival. And the very next day the Old Town streets will get an old fashioned feeling with old crafts, popular folk theatres and food from those old days.

Die Hauptveranstaltung des Festivals ist die Zubereitung eines riesigen Omelettes aus 2010 Eiern mit Trüffeln in einer 2,5 Meter breiten Pfanne. Am nächsten Tag erhlaten die Strassen der Altstadt ein altmodisches Flair mit Handarbeiten, Volkstheater und Gerichten aus vergangenen Zeiten.

The largest number of producers of traditionally made brandy are in northern and central Istria. You can taste their masterpieces at the brandy exhibit that is organized every year in Hum - the smallest town in the world. Such brandy is most often made from grape marc into which aromatic and medicinal herbs or different fruit are added. The most popular types of grape-brandy are rue and mistletoe brandy, but there are numerous other sorts as well: with honey, St. John's wort, sour cherries, mint, walnuts.

Die grösste Anzahl von Herstellern traditionellen Schnappses befindet sich im Norden und Zentrum Istriens. Sie können deren Produkte in der kleinsten Stadt der Welt, Hum, alljährlich bei dieser Veranstaltung probieren.  Der Schnapps wird meist aus Traubentrester unter Zugabe von aromatischen und Heilkräutern sowie Obst hergestellt. Zu den beliebtesten Sorten zählen Mistel-, Honig-, Johanniskraut-, Sauerkirschen-, Minze- und Walnussschnapps.
